Hertel Offshore has secured a €70m ($91m) contract from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the engineering, design and construction (EPC) of living quarters for Statoil‘s Aasta Hansteen platform in the North Sea.
Netherlands-based Hertel said the project is on a lump sum EPC basis and will draw on in-house capabilities, while the design of the new accommodation will be based on strict Norsok standards and Statoil requirements.
The company will use its previous innovations, including prefab cabins, to facilitate an efficient construction process.
The proposed Aasta Hansteen Living Quarters will be a five-storey building made of steel that can accommodate 108 people.
It will weigh nearly 2,600 tonnes and be fully equipped with all amenities required for offshore operations, such as a galley, recreational area, medical room, control room and heli deck.
Hertel Offshore managing director Peter van Aken said the project will further strengthen the company’s presence on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The company has already commenced work on the project, with its delivery scheduled for April 2015.
