Leighton Offshore has been awarded a crude oil contract by Iraq’s South Oil Company to develop two offshore platforms.

Under the $158m contract, Leighton will develop a 75km, 48in oil pipeline and a single point mooring system.

The contract forms part of the crude oil export facility reconstruction project, known as the Sea Line Project, which aims to expand Iraq’s crude oil export capacity.

The reconstruction project is financed and supported through the Japanese Official Development Assistance Loan by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
