Lerus, a Ukrainian provider of crewing services to oil and gas industry, has launched a new training centre equipped with the latest offshore vessel simulator from Kongsberg.
The new training centre in the city of Odessa is claimed to be the first such facility in Ukraine to offer fully integrated offshore vessel operations training.
Integrated with a 240° field of view, the Kongsberg K-Pos, Dynamic Positioning Simulator will provide life-like visuals that demonstrate realism during the varied training scenarios.
Lerus designed the scenarios based on courses for ship handling (AHTS, OSV, ROV, DSV, VLCC, MPSV), dynamic positioning, crane operations (Stage 1, 2, 3), anchor handling and towing / rig moving.
The simulator is expected to provide complete vessel training by way of enabling different teams to interact within the same exercise.
Kongsberg supplied a standalone crane simulator for training on harbour operations, along with an offshore crane simulator, which can simulate a deck-mounted knuckle-boom crane or a wire-luffing lattice pedestal crane for platform lifting operations.
