The oil was discovered in sidetrack 16/2-7A in the well, which is located in license PL501.

The sidetrack was drilled to a total depth of 2,100m, using the semi-submersible drilling rig Bredford Dolphin.

Oil was discovered in the Upper Jurassic reservoir, of which 17m net was above the oil water contact.

Lundin Norway holds a 40% interest in PL501, while Statoil Petroleum, Maersk Oil Norway hold 40% and 20% interests, respectively.
