US-based McDermott International has been selected to provide further pipeline work as part of an offshore installation contract with Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP).

The company’s work will include transportation and installation (T&I) of pipelines, as well as umbilicals in the Fairley and Ampa fields in offshore Brunei.

McDermott’s complete scope of work for the campaign is expected to include T&I for 20 miles of pipelines, along with the beach and pipeline crossings, tie-ins, riser installation.

"Our contribution in developing these facilities plays a vital role in helping Brunei Shell Petroleum meet its production targets and Brunei meet its energy goals."

The company will also be responsible for pre-commissioning of the completed system.

As part of the 2017 campaign, McDermott’s Derrick Barge 30 (DB 30) will continue to be deployed to perform pipeline work in Brunei.

Both DB 30 and Emerald Sea diving support vessel were deployed for the 2015 shallow water pipeline campaign, which was undertaken by McDermott Asia recently.

McDermott International Asia vice-president Hugh Cuthbertson said: "Brunei has significant long-term plans to increase investment and production in its energy sector and the successful installation of these new pipelines in the Ampa and Fairley fields is expected to help ensure production continuity of the mature reserves.
