Oilfield engineering services provider Oceaneering International (OII) has won a $120m umbilical supply contract from Brazil’s state-owned oil company Petrobras.

Under the terms of the deal, OII will supply about 200km of thermoplastic production control umbilicals for field development projects, Lula and Sapinhoa, Petrobras’s first large pre-salt projects in the Santos Basin.

Kevin McEvoy, Oceaneering president and chief executive officer, said the company is pleased to secure this major contract award from Petrobras.

"Our success in winning Petrobras’s first large pre-salt umbilical contract demonstrates the leading edge position of our Brazilian manufacturing plant operation," said McEvoy.

"The award is attributable to our demonstrated project execution capabilities, our ability to provide state-of-the-art technical designs, and the capital improvements we have made to our Niteroi facility to manufacture more complex umbilicals."

Product manufacturing is scheduled to take place at Oceaneering’s plant in Niteroi, Brazil, and is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2012. Delivery of the umbilicals is expected in the third quarter of 2015.
