Rialto Energy will commence drill testing at the Gazelle-P3 ST2 well located in Côte d’Ivoire, which previously intercepted oil and gas bearing Upper Cenomanian reservoirs.

"Earlier this year, Rialto started a three well drilling programme in CI-202 using the Transocean GSF Monitor drilling rig."

Drill stem testing is expected to be completed in two weeks and, if successful, the well will be suspended for future completion as the first production well of the Gazelle field, located in block CI-202.

Charlie Nieto, Rialto COO, said that the objective of the company is to suspend the Gazelle-P3 well as a producer and the commencing of testing operations is an important step in achieving the desired objective.

"Having resolved the significant challenges encountered with drilling to date, Rialto remains on track to deliver the Gazelle Development," added Nieto.

"Further, through this well and subsequent sidetrack, we have obtained significant new geological information to improve our understanding of the CI-202 block and progress the development of the Gazelle field."
