Statoil has received a permit from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill the 16/2-10 S well in production licence 265, which is located in the North Sea.

The firm will drill an appraisal well 5km north of well 16/2-8 using the Transocean Leader drill rig once it completes drilling wildcat well 16/2-09.

The drill permit consists of parts of block 16/2 and is subject to the receipt of permits and consents from other authorities.

Operator Statoil owns a 40% interest in production licence 265 along with Petoro with 30%, Det norske oljeselskap with 20% and Lundin Norway with 10%.
