Norway-based TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company is to acquire a new 9,700km, multi-client 3D seismic survey, offshore north-west Australia.

The survey, which is located over the Exmouth Plateau in the Carnarvon Basin, covers newly available acreage in blocks WA-364-P, WA-365-P and WA-367-P.

The acquisition will be carried out by M/V Viking Vision and will be completed in the first quarter of 2012.

TGS senior VP Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific Rod Starr said the Australia 3D project is in line with the company’s strategic plan and is a new milestone for its growth in a promising region.
