Oil and gas contracts in Africa remained flat in September 2022 with 21 contracts, when compared with contracts in the previous month, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.

The activity marked a decrease of 13%, when compared with the last 12-month average of 24 contracts.


Contract award activity in Africa during September 2022

Looking at contracts by country, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire and Egypt led the activity in September 2022 with two contracts representing a 10% share each of all the oil and gas contracts. It saw a decrease of 50% over the previous month’s total of four contracts and a decrease of 33% when compared with the last 12 month-average three contracts in Angola.

Based on 12-month moving average, Angola, Egypt and Nigeria took the top spot with three contracts each.

Looking at oil and gas contracts by segment in Africa, upstream segment contributed the most in terms of the contracts awarded, with 18 contracts in September 2022, followed by midstream with two contracts.

During September 2022, the majority of the contracts awarded were in the operations & maintenance space with 13 contracts, followed by design & engineering and procurement with nine and eight contracts, respectively.
