Installation and commissioning of the cranes on Gullfaks field will begin by 2016-end and continue until mid-2017.

The main Gullfaks field has been developed with three large concrete production platforms.

The Gullfaks A platform began production on 22 December 1986, Gullfaks B on 29 February 1988 and the C platform commenced production on 4 November 1989.

In 1978, Block 34/10 was awarded to Statoil (operator), Norsk Hydro and the former Saga Petroleum in Norway.
