Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway has given approval to Statoil to use the Deepsea Atlantic mobile drilling facility for production wells on the Visund oil and gas field in the North Sea’s northern sector.
Visund is located east of the Snorre field. The development comprises a semi-submersible, integrated quarters, drilling and processing facility in steel (Visund A). Production in the gasfield started in 1999.

The northern section of Visund has been developed with a subsea template, around 10km north of Visund A.
A mobile drilling facility will be used for drilling and completion of two production wells, 34/8 D-2H and 34/8 D-4H/AH, in the northern section of the gasfield.
The wells are located at water depths of 378m in the field.
The drilling operations will begin in early March and are expected to last 165 days.
