US-based fuel producer Flint Hills Resources will use the Honeywell Connected Plant Process Reliability Advisor for ongoing monitoring of the CCR Platforming unit at its refinery, as well as early detection and mitigation of performance issues.
The unit produces a range of transportation fuels.

Process reliability advisor feeds plant data through Honeywell UOP process and fault models to provide key performance information and process recommendations.
In addition to ensuring smooth running of plants, it identifies problems to mitigate issues that impact production and plant profitability.
Honeywell UOP's connected performance services business vice-president Zak Alzein said: "Process reliability advisor is unique because it applies Honeywell UOP's deep troubleshooting experience and proprietary models to recommend corrective operational adjustments far sooner than has ever been possible before.

It also claimed that the technology allows Flint Hills to apply industrial internet of things (IIoT) solutions to their operations for data management and analytics.
Alzein further added: “This service can tie plant data to the right domain knowledge to gain new insights to improve operational reliability."
Flint Hills Resources’ pine bend refinery and the Corpus Christi east and west refineries have a combined crude oil processing capacity of more than 600,000 barrels per day.
