
Oil and natural gas service company Weatherford International has announced that its Secure Drilling Services facility located in Aberdeen, Scotland, has received API Specification Q2 certification.

The certification makes the Aberdeen location the first API Q2-certified facility in the UK.
Established by the American Petroleum Institute, API Specification Q2 is a quality standard certification that recognises advanced oil and gas service providers.
Weatherford UK managing director Gary Duncan said: “This certification is a testament to the commitment, teamwork and dedication of all of our business groups.
“A journey that began with the successful implementation of our Operational Excellence and Performance System (OEPS) has resulted in this landmark achievement.”

By GlobalDataTo secure this certification, a facility must exhibit a competent and efficient quality management system that ensures personnel proficiency, risk assessment, contingency planning and other attributes.
The Aberdeen facility is responsible for managing equipment and service quality of Weatherford’s managed pressure drilling systems.
This managed pressure drilling system is deployed across Europe and is an advanced technique that controls wellbore pressure and reduces risk and uncertainty while drilling on land and offshore.
Weatherford vice president of quality, health, safety, security and environment Kyle Chapman said: “Safety and service quality remain core pillars of our culture as a company. This recognition demonstrates our commitment to setting a high bar for service quality and executing our work safely at this level.”
