Wood Group has secured a contract with Shell Australia’s Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project in Australia.

Under the three-year deal, the company’s unit Wood Group Kenny will provide consultancy services for flexible riser integrity management of Prelude FLNG before and during its operation.

The FLNG will be located 475km north-north-east of Broome in Western Australia.

The contract will primarily focus on the development and implementation of the flexible riser integrity management plan, in addition to providing inspection, monitoring, testing and on-call engineering support.

"The flexible risers are a safety critical component of the subsea system."

Wood Group Kenny CEO Bob MacDonald said: "The flexible risers are a safety critical component of the subsea system.

"We look forward to working with Shell and applying our specialist expertise to the project, which has specific challenges given the cyclonic conditions; making integrity even more pertinent."
