The Volund field is located on Block 24/9 in the North Sea and began production in 2010 from three production wells.

In 2012, an additional horizontal well draining the north-west flank of the injection complex was drilled and became operational in January 2013.

Det norske became the operator of both the fields after Marathon Oil sold its interests on the NCS in 2014.
