Originating at a tanker truck unloading and pumping facility near Killdeer, the pipeline will transport oil to an existing Bakken Oil Express rail facility, west of Dickinson.
Construction of the transmission pipeline, which will have the maximum capacity of 165,000 barrels per day, is expected to take 12-14 weeks.
Commissioner holding the siting portfolio Julie Fedorchak said the pipeline provides a safe transportation method for significant volumes of crude oil and will eliminate tanker trucks from one of the state’s busiest stretches of highway.
"This is an important addition to the infrastructure serving our state’s growing energy industry," Fedorchak said.
