Australian oil and gas firm AWE will commence a hydraulic fracture stimulation programme at three wells in the onshore North Perth Basin in Western Australia in June, this year.

The three-well programme involve the testing of two shale gas wells, Woodada Deep-1 and Arrowsmith-2 and the tight gas well Senecio-2.
Woodada Deep-1, located in production licence L5 and Senecio-2 in production licences L1/L2, are operated by AWE, while Arrowsmith-2, located in exploration permit EP 413, is operated by Norwest Energy with a 27.945% stake.
The wells have already been drilled and site preparations are well advanced at each location.
Fracking programme at Woodada Deep-1 and Arrowsmith-2 is intended to test the gas production potential for shales within three formations, Kockatea, Carynginia and Irwin River Coal Measures..

By GlobalDataAt Senecio-2, AWE plans to test the potential for improved productivity from the Wagina/Dongara tight gas reservoir, which initially flowed in excess of 1 million cubic feet of gas per day during unstimulated testing.
The onshore Perth Basin oil and gas fields are located near the town of Dongara, about 360km north of Perth, where a significant potential resource has been identified from existing well and seismic data in the basin.
