Chevron’s Australian subsidiaries have signed a sales and purchase agreement with Japan-based Kyushu Electric Power for the delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Wheatstone project in Western Australia.
Under the terms of the agreement, Chevron, along with Apache and Kufpec, will deliver up to 700,000t of LNG a year to Kyushu Electric for up to 20 years.

In addition, Kyushu Electric will acquire 1.83% of Chevron’s equity share in the Wheatstone field licences, along with a 1.46% interest in the Wheatstone natural gas processing facilities to be developed onshore near Onslow.
With the equity participation volume, Kyushu Electric will receive a total of 800,000t of LNG a year from the project.
