Under the first phase, the project will have potential to recover about five million barrels of additional oil.
The firm will start carbon dioxide injection by the end of 2011, and expects to increase its oil recovery from the field with the implementation of the first phase of the project.
ExxonMobil senior field superintendent Lyndal Trout said the firm’s investment in the field is part of an ongoing effort to find, develop and produce more domestic supplies of oil and gas to meet the country’s growing energy needs.
