Lebanon will offer bids next month to build its first liquified natural gas (LNG) pipeline.
The project is part of the country’s plan to link power stations along the coast, aiming to revamp its power industry and curtail power outages.

Lebanon’s energy minister will also offer other tenders for associated facilities including a terminal to receive LNG shipments, which is expected to be operational by 2012, according to Bloomberg.
Lebanon may import LNG from Qatar because it expects it won’t be able to produce offshore gas for several more years.
