US-based Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a proposal to connect Florida Gas Transmission Company (FGTC) and Transco natural gas pipeline systems with the new Gulf LNG Clean Energy import terminal being developed near Mississippi, US.
The Pascagoula Expansion Project, a partnership between FGTC and Williams’ Transco pipeline, will consist of 15.54 miles of pipeline in the US states of Alabama and Mississippi.

The $59m pipeline project will have the capacity to transport about 810,000 dekatherms of natural gas per day when it comes onstream in 2011.
Work on the project, fully contracted with Angola LNG Supply Services, will begin in April 2011.
The Gulf LNG Clean Energy import terminal is to be placed into service in the third quarter of 2011.
