Dutch LNG terminal operator 4Gas said it will not go ahead with plans to build a regasification terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, after it has been unable to secure long-term supply contracts for the project.

The LionGas project, if complete, would have competed with the Gate LNG facility under construction by Vopak and Gasunie.

The firm leased land in 2006 at the mouth of the Rotterdam port and planned to build the LNG terminal by 2010.
