Alliance Pipeline has begun transporting the first natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) from Bakken Shale in the Williston basin, Canada, to the market.
The transport has been facilitated through the construction of a new interconnect facility near North Dakota that connects to Pecan Pipeline’s Prairie Rose Pipeline.

Bakken, primarily an oil play, also produces a significant amount of natural gas as a by-product that was burnt or flared as waste in absence of a pipeline infrastructure.
The Alliance pipeline currently has the capacity to accept additional gas in the US part of its system.
The pipeline moves rich gas, and NGLs are extracted at the field delivery point than at the production source, thereby reducing costs and processes for producers.
