InterOil plans to drill a horizontal extension at Antelope-2 well in Papua New Guinea, after reaching a vertical depth of 2,465m to intersect a hydrocarbon column.
The firm reached the gas-water contact at a depth of about 2,365m and was now planning to test the extent of the overlying gas and condensates pay.

The presence of hydrocarbons had been validated by two drillstem tests, and at a test flowed at a rate of about 11 million cubic feet per day with a condensates-to-gas ratio of about 20.7 barrels per million cubic feet.
The tests also confirmed an increased condensates-to-gas ration with depth in the well and shown better porosity in the hydrocarbon wells compared with the Antelope-1 discovery well.
InterOil said it is testing commercial viability of the oil shows in cores and recovered mud from the well, and will test the fluid content and flow capacity, as well as the lateral extent of the reservoir at the extension.
InterOil is looking for partners in its Elk-Antelope project in the Papua New Guinea Highlands to supply feedstock to the Liquid Niugini Gas’s planned liquefied natural gas project.
