KrisEnergy has encountered oil and gas pay at the Rossukon-2 exploration well, in G6/48 in the Gulf of Thailand.
The Rossukon-2 well was drilled to a total measured depth of 5,460ft, using Shelf Drilling’s Key Gibraltar jack-up rig.

Preliminary logs suggest that the well intersected 69ft true vertical depth (TVD) of net oil-bearing sandstones, and 37ft TVD of net gas-bearing sandstones, over five reservoir intervals.
Upon completion of the logging programme of Rossukon-2, the Rossukon-2ST directional sidetrack well will start drilling out 1.3km to the northwest.
KrisEnergy director of exploration & production Chris Gibson-Robinson said: "The results from Rossukon-2 provide an encouraging basis to drill a sidetrack well to further define the lateral extent of the hydrocarbon columns and explore for new zones.
"These wells, together with the original 2009 discovery well, will bring us a step closer to deciding commerciality of the accumulation, and the potential development concept."

By GlobalDataG6/48 covers 566km² over the Karawake Basin, and sits to the north of the G10/48 licence, where KrisEnergy is developing the Wassana oil field.
KrisEnergy operates and owns a 30% working interest in the G6/48 concession. Northern Gulf Petroleum and Mubadala Petroleum hold 40% and 30% stakes, respectively.
The Key Gibraltar rig was contracted in June 2014 for a firm six months for KrisEnergy’s Thai drilling programme, which also includes 15 development wells in the Wassana field.
