The US Department of Energy (DOE) has extended the terms of seven liquefied natural gas (LNG) export authorisations until 2050.
The move comes after the department issued ten LNG export term extensions in October following the finalisation of an export term policy earlier this year.

Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette said: “The success story of US LNG continues to be written, and these extended authorisations will ensure that the benefits from these exports continue for decades to come.
“The US just set a new all-time high record for LNG exports in November 2020, and the monthly rate of LNG exports has now quintupled since the beginning of the Trump Administration.”
The latest step extended terms for the under-construction Golden Pass facility, as well as the proposed Texas LNG project, Magnolia and Driftwood projects in Louisiana, and the Delfin LNG export project.
It also extends the terms for Sempra Energy’s Costa Azul project in Mexico.

“LNG is and will continue to be a vital energy resource for our friends and allies around the world.”
Separately, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the US completed an oil and gas lease sale in California.
The auction offered seven parcels totalling nearly 4,133 acres, located in or adjacent to existing Midway-Sunset, and Kern Front Oilfields in Kern County.
