Total has awarded a contract worth $100m to tubular solutions provider Vallourec for the supply of premium pipes with VAM 21 connections for the offshore ML-South project.
The project is operated by Total’s affiliate Total E&P Borneo in Brunei.

Vallourec will equip the wells with pipes of high-alloyed, corrosion-resistant grades, threaded with its VAM 21 connection.
Located in Block B offshore Brunei, the ML-South project is said to be an extension of the Maharaja Lela Jamalulalam producing field with water depth of approximately 65m, and is expected to hold important gas and condensate reserves.
According to Vallourec, the development wells are expected to produce at depths greater than 5,000m, in a highly corrosive environment and sustaining high pressure / high temperature (HP/HT).
The conditions are set to position the project at a new field development frontier.

By GlobalDataVallourec oil and gas activities managing director Didier Hornet said: "The contract recognises Vallourec’s ability to provide the most advanced premium tubular solutions and services in the most challenging environments.
"We will work alongside Total to develop the local contribution to this project."
The company will manufacture cases and tubes in its European and Indonesian plants, and plans to deliver the pipes to Total E&P Borneo for drilling operations scheduled to start in the second half of 2015.
Total has a drilling programme starting with six development wells from 2015, following a successful exploration campaign started in 2007.
