Spectrum has commenced its multi-client 2D seismic survey in Argentina after securing approval from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

The survey is being conducted in collaboration with BGP Marine and will be supported by industry funding.

It is currently set to cover an area of about 14,500km, comprising the offshore Austral and Malvinas basins in the southern part of the country, however this may vary based on client input.

Spectrum intends to acquire data using a 12,000m streamer with continuous recording in order to enable extended recording lengths and procure high-fold data for the complete assessment of the region, ranging from Moho to water bottom.

The data procured from this survey is expected to help the ministry when configuring the placement and design of parcels under future offshore licensing rounds in Argentina.

All data acquired will be processed with pre-stack time migration, pre-stack depth migration, full waveform inversion and broadband products.

The first deliveries of results are expected to begin in the second quarter of next year.
