Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded three 4D seismic surveys from Equinor, which are set to be carried out in the North and Barents seas this year.
The latest announcement brings Shearwater’s 4D awards to six projects this year, along with the recent award of three OBS 4Ds.

Shearwater GeoServices CEO Irene Waage Basili said: “We see a clear increase in activity in the 4D market in 2019, and we are very pleased to see a leading purchaser of 4D seismic choosing Shearwater’s Isometrix technology for their 4D surveys.

Shearwater will perform the three seismic surveys this year at the Kvitebjørn & Valemon, Visund and Snøhvit fields.
The first seismic survey is scheduled to start in the second quarter. Shearwater will deploy the Amazon Conqueror and SW Amundsen vessels for the surveys, which are expected to take a total of three months for completion.

Snøhvit is a field in the central part of the Hammerfest Basin in the southern part of the Barents Sea, while Kvitebjørn is in the Tampen area in the northern part of the North Sea.
TGS recently awarded an 11,200km² exploration survey in Brazil to Shearwater. The project will be executed by the Amazon Warrior using proprietary Q technology starting in the first quarter of this year.
The survey is expected to last eight months.
