The largest producers of natural gas in China are China National Petroleum, China Petrochemical and China National Offshore Oil. China National Petroleum was the largest producer of natural gas in 2022 with output up by 5% on 2021.
China Petrochemical was the second-largest producer, with output up by 2%, and China National Offshore Oil was third with an increase of 8% on the previous year.
There are 43 natural gas producing fields in China of which seven are located offshore and the rest onshore. The Shanxi has the majority of the natural gas fields in the country with ten.
