Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 21.56% share in April 2022, recording an increase of 2.13% over the last three-month average share.

By GlobalData1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 77.55% in April 2022, registering a 65.22% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 10.2% share, an increase of 400% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.16%, registering a 33.33% rise from March 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 4.08% growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in April 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 79.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry during April 2022 over March 2022.
Shell posted 20 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a rise of 100% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 11 jobs and a 22.22% growth. Schlumberger with 6 IT jobs and Evonik Industries with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while PPG Industries recorded an increase of 100% with 2 job postings during April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.43%, up by 45.83% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.53% share, registered an increase of 85.71% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 2.04% share, down 50% over March 2022.
