Bakong is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Malaysia and is operated by SapuraKencana Energy Sarawak. The field is located in block SK 408, with water depth of 400 feet.

Production from Bakong

The Bakong conventional gas field recovered 11.28% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2024. The peak production will approximately 2 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 200 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2054. The field currently accounts for approximately 2% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 126.9 Mmboe, comprised of 7.14 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 718.58 bcf of natural gas reserves. Bakong conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.04% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
