Horizon (CNRL) is a producing oil sands field located onshore Canada and is operated by Canadian Natural Resources.

Three expansion projects are associated with the Horizon (CNRL) oil sands field, namely Horizon Paraffinic Froth Treatment Expansion, Horizon Vacuum Gas Oil Sales Expansion and Horizon Fractionation Tower Debottleneck. The expansion projects are currently in the feed stage.

Production from Horizon (CNRL)

The Horizon (CNRL) oil sands field recovered 15.57% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2020. The peak production was approximately 270.65 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2103. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 4,133.26 Mmboe, comprised of 4,133.26 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Horizon (CNRL) oil sands field reserves accounts 10.85% of total remaining reserves of producing oil sands fields globally.
