Karachaganak is a producing conventional gas field located onshore Kazakhstan and is operated by Karachaganak Petroleum Operating. The field is located in block Karachaganak.
Three expansion projects are associated with the Karachaganak conventional gas field, namely Karachaganak Production Plateau Extension Projects (Stage 2M), Karachaganak Expansion 1A and Karachaganak Expansion 1B. The expansion projects are currently in the commissioning, approval and feed stage.

Production from Karachaganak
The Karachaganak conventional gas field recovered 45.08% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2023. The peak production will approximately 247.47 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 1,121 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2078. The field currently accounts for approximately 16% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 3,175.8 Mmboe, comprised of 2,077.02 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 6,592.7 bcf of natural gas reserves. Karachaganak conventional gas field reserves accounts 1.03% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
