Majnoon is a producing conventional oil field located onshore Iraq and is operated by Basra Oil. The field is located in block Majnoon Contract Area.

An expansion project is associated with the Majnoon, namely Majnoon Development. This project is currently in the construction stage, expected to start in 2023.

Production from Majnoon

The Majnoon conventional oil field recovered 11.81% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2050. The peak production will approximately 447.75 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2089. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 6,381.02 Mmboe, comprised of 6,381.02 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Majnoon conventional oil field reserves accounts 1.38% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
