Safaniyah is a producing conventional oil field located in shallow water in Saudi Arabia and is operated by Saudi Arabian Oil . The field is located in block Saudi Aramco Concession Area.

Two expansion projects are associated with the Safaniyah conventional oil field, namely Safaniyah Phase 6 and Safaniyah Phase 7. The expansion projects are currently in the commissioning and construction stage.

Production from Safaniyah

The Safaniyah conventional oil field recovered 55.16% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1981. The peak production was approximately 1,544 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2052. The field currently accounts for approximately 8% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 15,325.97 Mmboe, comprised of 13,508.49 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 10,904.88 bcf of natural gas reserves. Safaniyah conventional oil field reserves accounts 3.32% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
