Soroosh and Norooz Heavy Oil Field, Iran

Soroosh and Norooz is a producing heavy oil field located in shallow water in Iran and is operated by Iranian Offshore Oil. The field is located in block Soroosh and Norooz.

An expansion project is associated with the Soroosh and Norooz, namely Soroosh EOR. This project is currently in the feasibility stage.

The field is owned by National Iranian Oil.


Production from Soroosh and Norooz

The Soroosh and Norooz heavy oil field recovered 87.01% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2005. The peak production was approximately 190 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2036.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 97.6 Mmboe, comprised of 97.6 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate. Soroosh and Norooz heavy oil field reserves accounts 0.22% of total remaining reserves of producing heavy oil fields globally.
