The research will be performed by experts of Belorusneft’s oil industry research institute BelNIPIneft. They will focus on six mature fields spread across various parts in India that are rich in high water content.

BelNIPIneft will provide engineering services related to the project for nine months.

Belorusneft representatives noted that the activities of the specialists are mainly aimed at increasing the development of the remaining resources using tertiary methods.

The contract will be carried out in two stages. An initial pilot design project will be tested and laboratory tests will be performed to choose effective compounds for certain sites.

With the generated lab results, computer hydrodynamic models will be built to analyse the reagents’ effectiveness in advance and optimise their injection accordingly.

Last month, ONGC received a total of 28 bids for 50 out of 64 small and marginal oil and gas fields in the first round of bidding.

In India, the company accounts for 71% and 81% of crude oil extraction and natural gas extraction, respectively.

Founded in 1966, Belorusneft also provided services such as comprehensive engineering and consulting to Oil India.
