US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) firm Cheniere Energy has produced and exported its 1,000th cargo of LNG.

The milestone shipment comes less than four years after the company’s first cargo with gas was sent out from Sabine Pass LNG in Louisiana in February 2016.

Cheniere noted that it has produced all 1,000 cargoes from the Sabine Pass Liquefaction Project (SPL Project) and the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project (CCL Project).

The SPL Project comprises six natural gas liquefaction trains, among which five are fully operational and one under construction.

Cheniere commenced production at the CCL plant in November 2018. The CCL project comprises three trains, two of which are fully operational. The third one is under construction and expected to come online next year.

Cheniere Energy president and CEO Jack Fusco said: “Our focus on reliability and safety through the entire LNG production process enabled us to reach this milestone while fulfilling our commitments to our foundation customer.

“Cheniere will continue to focus on operational excellence to help meet the growing demand for reliable, flexible, and cleaner sources of energy around the world.

“This achievement would not be possible without the dedication and diligence of Cheniere’s employees, our partners and customers, and we look forward to celebrating cargo #10,000.”

The Norway-based Hoegh Galleon vessel left the company’s Corpus Christi LNG export terminal with the company’s 1,000th cargo.

Jack Fusco told the Houston Chronicle that the LNG cargo is headed to France.

In addition, Cheniere recently delivered the 100th cargo produced at the CCL Project. The shipment was departed on the Yari LNG vessel.

In November 2019, US FERC gave approval to Cheniere for the construction and operation of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project.
