US oil company Chevron has asked around 300 employees based at its London office to work from home amid concerns that one of its staff has contracted the coronavirus Covid-19.

An employee working form the company’s Canary Wharf office in London, UK, was showing symptoms of the flu but tests have yet to confirm the virus.

The company asked traders, exploration and refining unit employees to work remotely until it receives the results of the test.

A Chevron spokeswoman said: “Chevron continues to monitor the situation very closely, utilising the guidance of international and local health authorities.
