Upstream oil and gas company Echo Energy has started drilling at its first exploration well in the Fracción C asset, Argentina.

Known as ELM-1004, the well is part of a campaign comprising four back-to-back exploration wells. It is located around 4km northeast of the Estancia La Maggie gas collection facilities.

The structure is estimated to have an initial 38 billion cubic feet (bcf) of Pmean gross gas in place, as per a report produced by Gaffney Cline & Associates.

Echo Energy CEO Fiona MacAulay said: “We are delighted to be starting our exciting four well exploration campaign shortly after the successful workover well campaign in Fracción D.

Echo has also completed an extended flow period at the CSo-85 well on the Fracción D asset. This well has been shut-in for a planned pressure build-up.
