Upstream oil and gas firm Echo Energy has completed the drilling of the Campo La Mata Exploration well (CLM x-1) on its Tapi Aike block in Argentina.
The well was drilled to a total measured depth of approximately 2,513m in the Palermo Aike formation and wireline logging was also completed.

The company will now conduct testing operations.
The well’s secondary target, ‘Mag 60’ or ‘Lobe G’, was encountered at 1,977m.
Two fine-grained sandstones have been identified and coincide with elevated gas shows of 109,900ppm and 149,500ppm against a 16,500ppm.
The primary target, ‘Mag 20’ or ‘Lobe C’, was encountered at 2,181m and coincided with elevated gas shows.

By GlobalDataAnother lower secondary target, ‘D3’ or ‘Anita’, was found at 2,265m and elevated gas shows were also observed during drilling. Within the target, a 20m section fine-grained calcareous sandstones have been identified.
Campo La Mata exploration well has revealed six zones of potential interest.
According Echo Energy, the well will be completed with a 5.5in casing. Then, the perforation and initial inflow testing processes will be conducted by the Quintana-1 rig.
Echo Energy said in a statement: “Rigless hydraulic stimulation will also be conducted on the well after the inflow tests have been completed and further announcements will be made, as appropriate, in due course.
“The Petreven H-205 rig will now mobilise to the company’s Campo Limite well in the Palermo Aike concession of the Santa Cruz Sur asset.”
The well is scheduled to be spudded by the end of the month.
