Global engineering company EXP has been selected as the lead environmental consultant for Coastal Bend LNG’s upcoming natural gas liquefaction and export facility on the Texas Gulf Coast, US.
EXP will be responsible for environmental consulting services crucial to the establishment of the facilities at Coastal Bend.

The planned development of the 22.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) natural gas liquefaction and export facility was initiated in June 2025.
It will include up to five 4.5mtpa liquefaction trains, cogeneration, LNG storage tanks, and comprehensive export hubs catering to bunkering, shipping and ISO (International Organization for Standardisation) containers.
Coastal Bend LNG chief operating officer Carlos R. Guzman said: “As DOE [Department of Energy] and FERC [Federal Energy Regulatory Commission] implement revisions to their NEPA [National Environmental Policy Act] requirements, EXP’s expertise in environmental surveys will be critical to advancing our permitting process most efficiently.
“EXP shares our goal of responsibly developing the Coastal Bend LNG project with benefits to our local communities as well as our end customers.”

The project’s regulatory filings are set to be reviewed before submission by the Energy Regulatory practice of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Earlier this month, Coastal Bend LNG selected for the facility ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade Process technology, which is designed to enhance the efficiency of the liquefaction process.
