Finnish state-owned gas company Gasum has opened a filling station for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG) in Ljungby, Sweden.
The new gas station is the 11th gas filling station of Gasum in Sweden and the first station for liquefied gas in Kronoberg County.

The Ljungby station offers LNG and LBG for heavy duty vehicles. It is strategically located at the intersection of E4 and R25 roads, serving Gasum’s customers on both roads.
Gasum Sweden Director of Traffic Mikael Antonsson said: “We are very happy to be in Ljungby. Enabling clean road cargo transport in the Nordics by replacing diesel with low emission fuel solutions, such as liquefied gas is becoming more important.
“As most of our customers have operations throughout Sweden, the Ljungby station is a welcomed addition to the gas filling station network for them as well.
“Interest towards gas as a fuel solution is steadily increasing and, thanks to governmental climate subsidy programs such as Klimatklivet, more than 800 gas trucks are now operating on Swedish roads.”

Opening of the new gas filling station is part of the Finnish firm’s plans to build a network of 50 gas filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles by early this year in the Nordics.
Last week, the Finnish firm announced the expansion of its gas filling station network in Sweden and Finland during summer this year.
In September 2016, Gasum opened its Pori LNG import terminal in Finland, which provides access to LNG deliveries outside the gas pipeline network.
