The latest wearable solution enables the crew to refer documents, such as technical datasheets, multimedia content and asset history, while performing manual work on the maintenance on a specific asset.

Italgas noted that this wearable solution keeps hands free through voice-controlled systems, resolving complex issues quickly and safely, as well as avoiding additional travel or downtime costs in extremely hazardous environment where gases are present.

According to the company, data collection through voice improves efficiency, allowing users to update asset information without manual input.

Italgas is investing hugely in the digitisation of its operations to provide safer and efficient services and increase distribution system efficiency.

The company said in a statement: “The utility first deployed the automated scheduling of work orders in 2004, pioneering the adoption of a Field Service Management solution to allow its workforce to avoid the need to visit the office to collect tasks in the morning or physically hand off documents at the end of their shift.”

Italgas aims to increase the number of field workers supported by the solution and expand the functionality of RealWear’s HMT-1Z1 platform.
