International drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag has secured new contracts to provide five rigs for projects in different parts of the world.

The combined value of the contracts is said to be $48m.

As part of a nine-month contract in Pakistan, the company needs to provide the T-72 rig for one well, with an option to supply to an additional well.

Having recently completed two geothermal wells in the Netherlands, the company’s T-700 rig has been awarded a five-month contract for an additional four wells with the same client.

KCA Deutag land president Simon Drew said: “These contract wins, which come in a tough environment in the wider oil industry, are very important to the Land Business Unit and KCA Deutag as a whole.”

The company’s Algerian division signed a new drilling contract for the T-220 desert rig.

Under the contract, the total campaign, comprising two firm wells and two optional wells will last around one year.

KCA Deutag was recently awarded a one year contract for two rigs, namely the T-210 and T-601, to undertake land drilling operations in South Iraq.

The T210 rig will be moved from Oman to serve the client in South Iraq, where the company already has another rig.
