Aberdeen-based floating production solutions provider Amplus Energy and Technip have joined forces to develop some of the UK North Sea’s marginal fields.

Sir Ian Wood’s report released in 2014 outlined a requirement for collaboration to increase recovery of untapped offshore reserves of 24Bboe in the UK.
The two companies are partnering to provide an integrated solution to overcome challenging field developments, which is line with the recommendations of the report.
Amplus managing director Ian Herd said: "We have already invested more than $5m in the development of our VPU and it has been specifically designed for small/medium-sized fields or as an early production system on larger fields.
"Working alongside such a global leader as Technip to support the subsea infrastructure brings immense benefits to Amplus and offers the industry a strong collaboration to get these smaller fields developed."

By GlobalDataAs part of the collaboration, Technip will contribute its project management, engineering, and technologies to develop better subsea infrastructure, while Amplus has developed the dynamically positioned versatile production unit (VPU).
The unit is based on FSPO and DP vessel technology and features the dis-connectable turret system. The vessel can work even during severe environmental conditions experienced in the North Sea.
