Orbital Gas Systems’ UK energy subsidiary CUI Global has received a contract from National Grid to provide additional IRIS remote terminal unit (IRIS-RTU) systems.
National Grid is one of the largest natural gas transmission companies in the UK.

The $1.4m contract requires the company to deliver 13 additional IRIS-RTU systems and associated electrical kiosks.
Deliveries of IRIS-LITE and the more complex Type B systems blended solution will start from this month, as the final system is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of this year.
Orbital has already begun the development of these IRIS solutions.
Orbital UK president Richard Law said: “This will be the ninth year of integrating our IRIS-RTU system into the National Grid gas transmission network and I am pleased that there is further recognition of the benefits of our unique IRIS software from this industry leader.”

The company claimed that IRIS has been specifically designed to improve efficiency, decrease operating costs, and enhance stability and security.
The solution is also said to improve the interface between sites, control room and operatives at all levels and locations.
