DNV GL has secured a contract to provide design and engineering technical services to UK-based National Grid’s Grain LNG terminal.

Grain LNG is situated on the Isle of Grain on the River Medway, Kent, 30km east of London.

Under the three-year contract, the company will carry out feasibility studies, conceptual design studies and provide engineering and risk management services in addition to front-end engineering and design (FEED).

DNV GL regional manager UK and West Africa Hari Vamadevan said: "This is a significant contract for DNV GL, the importance of LNG in the fuel mix is crucial to the UK, and the EU is supporting it as a clean fuel for road transportation.

Grain LNG is integral to the UK energy infrastructure and security of supply and located on a site that spans more than 600 acres in total.

National Grid commercial manager Nicola Duffin said: "Grain recently celebrated ten exceptional years of progress and now we are looking to the future, increasing the services we offer to our customers and working to ensure that Grain remains the European port of choice for LNG shippers.
